Holiday Message

In this holiday season, it is a time to reflect on what is important in life. It really is a season of hope and faith. Hope for a better future, faith in people around us. I have had the great fortune to work with many wonderful clients this year. I thank each and every one of you for your support and business.

This is a very rewarding business because I work on solutions to improve people’s current life. I have dedicated my professional life to making life better for my clients. I have a passion for it. When people tell me that they think reverse mortgages “rip-off” people or could cause seniors to loose their homes, I tell those people about the hundreds of people who have improved the quality of their life. People with low incomes who can now live their lives with dignity, people who incurred debt to help their children but now were having trouble with the monthly payment, people who were just existing, not living.

The success stories about how a reverse mortgage has changed their lives are incredible. I can’t tell you the number of people who thought they had no options and worried every day, day and night about how they would make it. Or, people who couldn’t afford Christmas gifts for their grandchildren without going into credit card debt. Or, people who gave up on living life and just thought about how bad the “golden years” had turned out.

It is not only about people with low funds or low monthly income. Some of my clients have plenty of savings, but they believe that the equity in their house doesn’t do them any good if it is just sitting unused. These clients have purchased second homes, investments, annuities, and grandchildren education. Some have used the funds to travel and do activities that they might not have otherwise done. They made a ‘life style improvement’ decision and used their home equity to finance it. This also takes advantage of the tax-free nature of reverse mortgage proceeds.

In spite of the success stories, I know that there are still thousands of New Jersey residents holding back from taking advantage of the benefits of this program. They are denying themselves to become the next “success story” or make a ‘life style improvement’.  Some say this is a product of last resort, I don’t believe it. One thing we don’t know is how long we exist on this earth so it is up to each and every one of us to make the most of life. I would hope most people want to be remembered by the quality of the life they lived, not the amount of estate they leave.

In this season of hope and faith, I want to remind my readers about all the success stories and why people get a reverse mortgage. These people have a better quality of life after their reverse mortgage than they did before. I hope this will make those of you realize that it starts with you.
